WHO WE ARE
Chalybeate Springs Ministry is a private non profit group incorporated in Pennsylvania in 1996. We are a Christian based, residential, aftercare program for men. This program was founded by "Doc" and Sandy Dawson, and is now run by a local governing Board of Directors, dedicated to helping, "the least of my brothers." (Matthew 25:40)
What We Believe
God changes lives and we exist to help people discover the change that can occur when we apply His Living Word in our thoughts, words, and actions.
And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him (1 John 4:16 NIV).
What We Do
We incorporate Bible study, prayer, and testimony into our daily activities.
We encourage men of the local Christian community to join us on the third Saturday of every month for a Prayer Breakfast & Work Day.
How We Operate
We operate on the donations and support of local churches and individuals who are committed to sharing the boundless and matchless love of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him. He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, took him to an inn and took care of him. The next day he took out two silver coins and gave them to the innkeeper. "Look after him, he said, and when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have" (Luke 10:33-35 NIV).

THE MINISTRY'S FOUNDER
"Doc" Dawson worked for New Day Inc. in the 1980s. He worked with Noah Martin, the founder of New Day. the following excerpt is from the back cover of Noah Martin's book: A Vision for a New Day, written in 1984.
Daryl "Doc" Dawson is the energetic and compassionate Director of New Day's Community Outreach program. The program seeks to meet the spiritual, physical and social needs of disadvantaged and unemployed individuals and families. He and his wife Sandy live in Johnstown and provide home for many homeless youths and adults. He envisions the building of a Christian community where believers work together in reaching out to "the least of these, my brethren".
In the book, Doc wrote, "the answers" began to come as the vision took on fulfillment. There are times when God asks you to act on vision and He will confirm it as you move along in faith. Recently, I bought a house. I believed the Lord wanted the house used for a special purpose. While a number of us were in special prayer asking the Lord for direction for the use of the house, a young man walked in and said he was lost. He didn't know how he got to out house or what he as doing there. He said he was from Altoona and needed a way home. Through this experience the Lord showed me what to do with the house, even while we were in prayer, seeking his will. Since that time, my wife and I have provided a home for homeless young people and adults that has proven to be a real blessing.
